Neoliberals has taken place so quickly that some languages, such as English, Spanish or Chinese, have become virtually universal languages, effectively serving to foster communications between different nations, whereas unpopular languages spoken by ethnic minorities are more likely to be extinct. Therefore, some people believe that public investment is completely wasteful and futile in saving the highly likely-extinct languages.
To originate with, the biggest downside of saving minority languages is the efficiency problem that people face. First, millions of people needed help to overcome both more urgent issues such as battling extreme malnutrition or epidemic disease, and then it followed that investment in dying language is reportedly considered a waste of money. Second, the wider the variety of languages, the less effective are the conversations between people from different countries. Of example, the fact that people often speak different languages have to make a lot of effort and time as well as misunderstand each other when communicating raises the price of transaction.
Notwithstanding the above point, governments will immediately begin to protect and preserve the less spoken languages. Not only is a language the means of communication, but it also represents various nations ‘ distinctive cultures. If a significant number of languages are extinct, the planet will be industrialized and cultural diversity will decrease. As a result, populations are unable to progress to higher developmental stages.
In sum, in terms of cost savings, the short-term benefits resulting from the opposition to preserving the minor languages should not overshadow the long-term benefits in terms of high diversity.
